Tee’s and Tank’s with a Twist

District Made always has a modern twist on classic clothing. Like tanks tops and tee’s in Cosmic colors. (Seriously that is what those colors are called…)

Or turning a classic V-Neck tee into something with a little surprise.

Or making your good old hoodie a little lighter for spring.

Keep an eye on District Made and District Threads. They always have cool stuff they unveil throughout the year.

Aloha Friday: Hawaii’s version of TGIF

Did you know we have Hawaiian’s to thank for Casual Friday’s?

According to Wikipedia:  “In 1965, Bill Foster, Sr., president of the Hawaii Fashion Guild, led the organization in a campaign lobbying for “Aloha Friday”, a day employers would allow men to wear aloha shirts on the last business day of the week a few months out of the year.”  By 1966 Aloha Friday was born and Aloha Shirts were worn every Friday through out the year. That crazy 60’s generation didn’t stop there though. In the 1970’s the Aloha Shirt became standard business attire for the whole work week doing in  the formal business fashions of the past. Those Hawaiians were so ahead of their time.

It took a bit longer to arrive here in the states. Wikipedia says it hit California in the early 1990’s when it became know as Casual Friday. And thus a whole new attitude in work apparel was born.

Weather your place of business is casual all week or just on Friday’s Hawaiian shirts make great statements at trade shows, outings, retreats, and even as a reward for the Big Kahuna of the Month, Quarter, or Year.

Wanna really get into the Friday mood? Check out this song called “It’s Aloha Friday, No Work ’til Monday” that is played every Friday on Hawaiian radio stations all over the state. Hau‘oli Friday!

The Futurist Trend

Athleisure, foil printing, reflective and blurred motion details, as well as unexpected logo placement are the wave of the future.  And for once it looks like National Embroidery in on trend. We just finished a silver foil tee shirt project for one of our customers and they were thrilled not only by the resulting look but also by the fact that they sold out of the tee’s at their event. We have also seen an up tick in the demand for gear with reflective details. So much so  that we now offer 3M Reflective Vinyl for smaller heat press jobs. Keep an eye on the Home page for an upcoming post on ways you can use the 3M Reflective Vinyl.

We hope everyone weathered Niko without incident.

We are back at it and opened  today until 4:30.

Well it is currently raining here at the shop. Go figure….60 degrees yesterday blizzard warning today. Ah New England we love ya.

We are here until the snow starts to fly for any pick ups or orders. We will be checking e-mails through out the day so feel free to e-mail either Dale or me.

We will update this Blog post and our Facebook Page should something change and let you know what is happening tomorrow.

Unless Niko takes out power…then just stay indoors and be cozy.

Be safe.

Do You Like Getting Things on Sale?

We sure do and have just come up with a new addition to our website menu bar.

Introducing ON SALE NOW! (Not terribly original I know but hey, it gets the message across.)  When our vendors offer specials to us we like to pass them on to you.  Instead of  spamming your in- box with e-mails every few days as sale items come and go, we decided to put all the sale items in one spot. When you are ready to place an order you can check out the ON SALE NOW! tab first and see if there might be anything you are interested in ON SALE NOW! (see how I did that?).

At the moment we are offering sale items on Apparel only. However over the next few months stay tuned as we update our Promotional website (under the Promotional tab in the menu bar) and give it a much needed make over. Soon you will see sales on Promotional items as well.  How fun will that be?!?!

Mineral Freeze by Sport-Tek

Sport-Tek just introduced a new line of digital printed gear call Mineral Freeze.

These items are perfect for sports team and spirit wear. Because of the very busy pattern we highly recommend a center chest sized logo in  either a one or two color design for heat transfer or screen print.

The tee’s are  100% polyester in a 3.8 oz weight so they are cool, light, and moisture wicking.

Check out the whole line of Mineral Freeze here.

The Dress Shirt Isn’t Dead

Work clothing has gotten very casual over the last decade or so. But the days of the dress shirt are not over by any means.

As the photos from The Sartorialist show the dress shirt is still alive and well and being worn in some interesting combos. (I must admit  looking at the outfit of the gentlemen in the stripes gives me a slight headache but the white dress shirt anchors the look and gives the eye a place to rest. Good strategy for any of you testing the bounds of fashion.)

Having a few dress shirts in your rotation with your casual gear gives you some options when you have an important meeting, need to ask the boss for a raise, or just need to step up your game during a presentation. Sometimes wearing a dress shirt gives you the attitude adjustment you need to get things done.

We are currently loving the Red House line of dress shirts for men as well as the ladies. They have changed up the material (less wrinkling and staining) and added a slim cut line to the classic shirt. Check out Red House here.

Howlers and Growlers

I am a big fan of large water bottles. ( Ask Dale…he teases me about the ginormous water bottle always close at hand on my desk.) Most of the larger water bottles (mine included) are the garden variety kind with the screw off, flip up, or slide lids. All perfectly functional if not a bit boring.

Last night while working on a project for a client I  stumbled upon these beauties with metal clasp lids.

Not ordinary or boring at all! The Growlers hold 64 oz., the Howlers holds 32 oz, and both  sizes come in Stainless Steel as well as  Maroon, Black Matte, and Copper. The Glass bottle holds 1 Liter and while it only comes in glass it features “an airtight, hermetic clamp closure with a rubber gasket that keeps the contents fresh”. At least that is what the blurb on it says and I have no reason to doubt.

These drink ware items are not super cheap so here is where you have to think about creative ways to use them. They can be given away at client meetings where you really are looking to make a statement or a creative first impression. Want to boost company morale? These can be given out as incentives, team building or company outings gifts. They would be perfect if your company or school offers a small retail shop.

I think the glass bottle would make creative center pieces for your next company picnic or holiday party. You could even use them as wedding decor….place settings or guest favors perhaps.

All of the above items are new and we currently don’t have samples in the shop. But as always if you need us to get some just send us a comment using our new Contact Us button on the right side of the page above our social media links.

Welcome 2017

We had a block buster fall and wanted to thank  all of our customers that made that happen. Now that we have had a chance to catch our breath, clean up the shop, and get ready for a new year we will be back to posting (we hope with a little more regularity).

In the next couple of weeks we will be uploading new catalogs to our E-Catalogs tab. There are fresh new styles we will cast a spot light on. And we will keep you updated on the latest trends in promotional items.

Here is to 2017!
